April 9 marks the fifth Internet of Things Day, the brainchild of the IoT Council and IoT tracking organisation Postscapes. It is billed as “an open invitation to the Internet of Things Community to participate in an event, host a hackathon, or just share a beer/coffee with a friend or fellow collaborator focused around the IoT and its implications.”
The event scored an endorsement from Kevin Ashton the man credited with coining the phrase “Internet of Things” in 1999. He tweeted: “The Internet of Things is the third age of computing. It has the potential to change the world, just as the computer and the Internet did. Maybe even more so. Sentiments that others have expressed, as we reported earlier.
