Global energy company, Engie in partnership with startup IoT network operator, UnaBiz, is to deploy a Sigfox low powered wide area network for IoT in Singapore. Singapore-wide coverage is expected by early 2017.
In 2015, Engie acquired a minority stake in Sigfox and established Engie M2M to act as the exclusive national Sigfox network operator in Belgium. In other countries, Engie is also a user of Sigfox for applications such as remote monitoring of boilers, metering in heat distribution and smart lighting.
(Engie announced last month that it had s selected the C3 IoT Platform and applications as the foundation for an enterprise-wide plan to implement elastic cloud computing, big data, analytics, machine learning and IoT.)
The announcement provides no information on UnaBiz. Its website www.UnaBiz.com simply says “launching on July 11” and invites viewers to sign up for a newsletter. The domain, however, is registered in the name of Singapore wireless lighting company Dipline Asia whose CEO and founder Henri Bong is also the CEO of UnaBiz and, according to the list of speakers for the EXA Summit to be held in Taipei in May 2017, ” the director of business development and Sales in Asia of Sigfox.”
His LinkedIN page describes him as “the CEO and founder of UnaBiz,” who was previously “Director of business development and sales in Asia of Sigfox.” It says that, before joining Sigfox, he “built a proven track record in exporting French Technologies in Asia for more than 10 years as a senior trade adviser in the French Trade Commission in China and Singapore.”
