The Telecommunications Association (TelSoc) has announced that Iñaki Berroeta, CEO of Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) will give the Charles Todd Oration in Sydney on Wednesday 19th October 2016.
Berroeta’s theme “On The Move: The Future of Mobile in Australia & Globally” will focus on the major changes that 5G and IoT will mean to mobile devices and networks, and on the major changes on the fixed networks they will integrate with.
Berroeta told a press briefing on 24 August that Vodafone would be trialling 5G in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2016. Also, Vodafone’s trial of IoT using NB-IoT on its network, being conducted in conjunction with Huawei and South East Water to transmit real-time data from its sewer network is expanding. It will go to phase two — 20 sites and 300 devices — in Q4 with a view to extending the system through South East Water’s network.
Berroeta also told the briefing that Vodafone was looking at opportunities to enter the fixed network services market.
The lunch time Charles Todd oration is being held in conjunction with the Australian Computer Society. It will take place at Dolton House, Pyrmont on 19 October. Details and registration here.
