Australian Lighting company Brilliant Lighting has partnered with Chinese IoT platform developer Tuya to launch a range of smart home products dubbed BrilliantSmart.
The BrilliantSmart range includes about a dozen products — lighting, security camera, home appliances, and sensors — that can interact with Google Home and Amazon Alexa and controlled from an Android or iPhone app, without the need for a separate hub. All products are branded “powered by Tuya”.
The range includes smart plugs that enable appliances to be turned on or off on-demand or according to predetermined schedules
The collaboration is part of Tuya’s Nebula project, which it says supports 66 IoT brands in 36 countries.
Tuya describes itself as the provider of a global “AI+IoT” developer platform that connects consumers, manufacturing brands, OEMs and retail chains, providing customers with a one-stop artificial intelligence IoT solution covering hardware access, cloud services and app development.
It claims its partners sell more than 30,000 products in almost 200 countries and regions.
“Tuya Smart provides solutions for all major smart home categories, … supports all mainstream technical standards, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, Zigbee, etc.” Tuya says.
Brilliant Lighting managing director Norman Levin said Brilliant has decided to join forces with Tuya “because we recognised their ability to provide innovative solutions through sophisticated IoT technologies suitable for the lighting and entire smart home industry.”
He said Brilliant had “decided to dive deeply into this field to ride the tide of the tech revolution and market demand for smart home technology.”
