D-Link has added a Wi-Fi enabled smart plug to its mydlink range ofsmart home products that can be controlled from a smartphone app.
The DSP-W118 Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug can be set to remotely turn connected devices on and off on demand, or at scheduled times and can accept over-the-air firmware upgrades. The mydlink app is available for iOS and Android.
The plug also integrates with the Google Assistant or Alexa, enabling it to be controlled by voice commands.
It also works with IFTTT (If This Then That), a free web-based service to create chains of simple conditional statements. It would, for example enable the smart plug to be set turn on a light if another IFTTT device detected motion in the room.
The DSP-W118 mydlink Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug retails for $A39.95 and for $NZ55.99 in New Zealand.
