ASX-listed IoT technology company Constellation Technologies (ASX: CT1 — formerly CCP Technologies) has signed its first customer contract in China.
The contract, through Constellation’s Chinese subsidiary, is with Beijing BHZQ Environmental Engineering Technology Co (BHZQ) to provide operational management systems for a large-scale ecological corridor construction project in the Daxing district of Beijing.
Constellation will design, supply and implement a system of IoT sensors monitoring 33 drainage outlets that discharge into natural water courses such as lakes and rivers in the Daxing district.
Additionally, Constellation says its mobile application will help enable the management and collection of manual observational information from a further 80 drainage outlets, to which sensors may be added as part of future contracts.
A million drains to monitor
The company is hopeful this initial contract, worth about $A840k, will lead to additional work in China. It says there are an estimated one million drainage outlets to which the technology could be applied.
“Under recent Chinese legislation, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China has tasked local governments to strictly regulate monitoring, testing, tracing and treatment controls for major rivers, basins and lakes covering millions of drainage discharge outlets around China,” Constellation says.
“Consequently [our] Chinese subsidiary is currently exploring further opportunities to sell the OMS in China.”
Constellation/CCP started out providing technology to monitor commercial refrigeration systems, as IoTAustralia reported earlier. The name change to Constellation Technologies appears to have taken place at the beginning of June, when ASX announcements show the new name. However IoTAustralia was unable to find any announcement of the name change on the ASX website.
