Software AG is partnering with ASX-listed asset management and technical services company BSA (ASX: BSA) to provide IoT based building management technology to the global market.
Software AG said it had been collaborating with BSA on the project, the Cumulocity Building management solution, since early 2019. Some details were revealed in a Software AG customer case study published in November 2019.
The first phase of the core development was completed in August 2020 and is available globally from Software AG as its building management platform, based on Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform.
“The solution … has been developed in Australia and now available globally, will provide greater visibility and control of building assets to customers that would not typically have building management systems (BMS) installed due to prohibitive costs,” Software AG said.
It will enable BSA’s facility owners and operator customers to connect, monitor, analyse and control the systems in their buildings, saving money and time while increasing operational efficiency and energy saving, Software AG said.
“Working with Software AG enables BSA to provide IoT-based technology solutions to improve the performance of client facilities, a capability that strengthens the company’s position in the building and asset management industry.”
According to Tony Drewitt, Software ‘s IoT and AI leader in Australia and New Zealand, the Cumulocity building management solution will give greater visibility and control of assets to small-to-medium sized facilities and provide better support and smarter maintenance activities while eliminating the necessity for on-site integration and IT infrastructure at customer sites.
He told IoTAustralia that Software AG’s partnership with BSA to develop the product paralleled its relationship with Telstra to develop management software for the water industry based on Cumulocity.
BSA’s head of client solutions, APS, Neil Glozier, said the company had identified a market need for visualisation and control of assets in sites where traditional BMS would typically be cost prohibitive.
“Using IoT technology enables us to offer a new group of customers from small to medium facilities, access to these capabilities, or in some cases to expand on already integrated systems,” he said.
“Through partnering with Software AG, BSA is able to bring a solution to market that adds to our suite of control and automation offerings and enhances our overall services to existing and future clients.”
